Sealing the Future: Food Packaging Expert Shares Shelf-Life Secrets at AU

The Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theeranun Janjarasskul on Thursday, August 7, 2025, for a special guest lecture under the FT4145 Packaging Design and Innovation and FT4126 Food Packaging courses.

A distinguished food technologist and a proud member of the UC Davis Alumni Thailand Chapter, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theeranun delivered a thought-provoking session on “Packaging and Its Role in Shelf-Life Extension.” Her lecture provided students with real-world insights into how intelligent packaging design can improve food preservation, reduce spoilage, and support sustainable supply chains.

The lecture explored key concepts including the science behind material selection, the role of active and intelligent packaging systems, and innovations that align with global trends in sustainability and food safety.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theeranun’s extensive research and international academic experience made a strong impression on AU’s biotechnology students, who are being trained to become leaders in food innovation and product development. Her lecture bridged the gap between academic theory and industrial application, reinforcing AU’s commitment to preparing graduates for the challenges of a globalized, sustainability-focused food industry.
