SACIT Symposium 2025 Elevates Thai Handicrafts to the International Stage

The Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACIT) hosted the SACIT Symposium 2025 under the theme “Crafting Sustainability across ASEAN and Beyond” on 7–8 August 2025 in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The two-day event became a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange on cultural heritage, creative industries, and sustainable development, welcoming participants from nine countries.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Seree Nontasut, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anucha Teerakarnon, and Dr. Feng Jing of UNESCO. A highlight was the presentation of academic certificates across ten categories, offering a holistic view of culture—from World Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage to museums and creative industries—as a driver of economic and social value. Discussions underscored the importance of environmentally responsible development, human resource empowerment, and the dissemination of knowledge and innovation to the global academic community.

The symposium also fostered opportunities for cross-border collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of Thai craft innovations aimed at achieving international recognition.
