On Friday 11 February 2021, Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University organized an online academic seminar on “Insurance Contract ‘Find-Pay-End’: Different Perspectives” (สัญญาประกันภัย “เจอ จ่าย จบ”: มองคนละมุม) to promote people’s knowledge and understanding in legal principles on insurance, rights and duties of concerning parties, and guidelines for appropriate dispute resolution which have been very significant issues spotlighted by society nowadays.

The School obtained the honor by six distinguished speakers from various dimensions of insurance business and law namely:

1. Associate Professor Sumate Janpradab, a Full-time lecturer with more than 40-year of insurance law teaching experience, Faculty of Law, Ramkhamhaeng University
2. Mr. Adisorn Pipatworapong, Assistant secretary-general for legal affairs and cases, Office of Insurance Commission, as the state regulator for monitoring and promoting insurance businesses in Thailand;
3. Mr. Arnon Wangwasu, President of Thai General Insurance Association, as the representative of general insurance companies in Thailand;
4. Miss Narumon Mekborisut, Deputy Director of Foundation for Consumers, as the representative of consumers;
5. Dr. Peerapat Foythong, a Freelance-legal advisor and academist in financial, banking, and insurance;
6. Mr.Passakorn Thabmongkol, Director of Legal Affairs and Cases Section, Office of the Consumer Protection Board;
and moderated by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Pisawat Sukonthapan, a Full-time lecturer of Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University.


Legal principles and provisions concerning insurance were introduced, including a number of questions and confuses were clarified in this forum, for instance, Can the insured still be able to claim for compensation when they get infected by COVID-19?, How much the compensation shall be paid, wholly paid or partly paid, how and when? If an insurance company cannot pay compensation to the insured, what are the solutions? Shall other kinds of insurance contracts be affected under this situation?, and Who or which organization should have the major role to extricate the tension among concerning parties?, etc.

The seminar was started at 6.00 p.m. via Zoom, and also broadcasted through Facebook live of AU School of Law. Asst. Prof. Dr. Sthianrapab Naluang, Dean of Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University kindly presented as the chairman of the seminar and delivered the welcoming and opening remarks to the speakers and more than 200 participants from several sectors such as university students, state organizations, business entrepreneurs, NGOs, and other people who were interested in those issues.

The School's mission apart from providing quality teaching and learning management to form quality graduates is to provide law knowledge to personnel and the general public.
