Assumption University's Suvarnabhumi campus was the scene of an inspirational cultural exchange on Friday, as students and faculty from Japan's Sapporo Sacred Heart School and the Bangbowitthayakhom School convened for a memorable afternoon.
The event began with a private meeting hosted by Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice President for Moral Development Education, The University Campus Ministry, and Director, John Paul II Center for Catholic Social Thought, offering insights and fostering closer ties between the participating institutions. Following this, guests embarked on a tour of Assumption University's sprawling 200-acre campus. The university's renowned reputation as a 'university in a park' was evident to all as they wandered through its beautifully landscaped grounds.
A highlight of the day was the captivating performance by the Japanese delegation, who showcased the festival dance style known as ‘Yosakoi’. This vibrant display unfolded in front of the University's architectural marvel, the Cathedral of Learning, adding a splash of color and rhythm to an already picturesque setting. "We are deeply honored and captivated by the Japanese Yosakoi performance, a mesmerizing testament to Japan's rich cultural tapestry and the talent of the Sapporo Sacred Heart School delegation.", said Bro. Amnuay.
To conclude the day, a spiritual Mass, led by Bro. Amnuay, was held in the inspiring St. Louis Marie de Montfort Chapel. The Mass represented the shared values and mutual respect that reinforced the entire event.
