Assumption University of Thailand (AU), in collaboration with the Asia Pacific School Psychology Association (APSPA), proudly reflects on the tremendous success of yesterday’s workshop titled "Building Bridges: A Workshop on Resilience and Mental Wellness." Held at the Salle d' Expo Room, Assumption Hall on the Hua Mak Campus, the event marked a significant stride in our commitment to enhancing mental health and resilience in our community.

Organized by the Graduate School of Human Sciences, the workshop witnessed an overwhelming participation from teachers, parents, students, and individuals keen on deepening their understanding of mental health. The event was part of the wider “Be a Rainbow to Someone’s Clouds” suicide prevention campaign.

The workshop featured a series of expert-led sessions, beginning with Dr. Parvathy Varma's enlightening talk on "Navigating the Shadows: Recognizing Warning Signs, Preventing Suicide, and Building Holistic Resilience." Dr. Santhosh Mohanan addressed the crucial topic of stigma and help-seeking in mental health, leading into the lunch break.

Post-lunch, the attendees benefited from Dr. Donald's insights, followed by Dr. Rajitha's session on "Suicide Prevention and Strength Assessment." Dr. Dave concluded the speaker sessions with an impactful discussion on "Understanding Cyberbullying: Guidelines for the Digital Age."

Key highlights of the workshop included:

Recognizing Warning Signs: Participants learned to identify subtle cues indicating distress, emphasizing awareness among educators and family members.

Preventing Suicide: The workshop explored proactive strategies for intervention, highlighting the importance of communication in de-stigmatizing mental health issues.

Building Holistic Resilience: Speakers underscored a comprehensive approach to resilience, integrating principles of positive psychology.

Interactive Strategies: Engaging role-playing scenarios and group discussions provided hands-on experience, equipping attendees with practical skills and resources for continued support.

The event not only equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills but also fostered a community dedicated to supporting mental wellness. Assumption University extends heartfelt gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event a landmark in our journey towards a more resilient and mentally healthy community.
