Assumption University's Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology recently took the spotlight at the Salle d' Expo, Hua Mak Campus. The occasion? A spectacular Student Innovation Showcase that left attendees in awe.

This event was expertly managed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Waralee Watcharin (Mim) and attended by distinguished AU leaders and dignitaries, including Rev. Bro. Dr. Monthol Prathumarach, Vice President for Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krisana Kitcharoen, Vice President for University Foresight and Advancement, and Assistant Professor Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Deputy Vice President for Academic Affairs.


 

 

The Objective was to ignite the spark of creativity and innovation among students, particularly in the realm of future food and plant tissue culture products. Plant Tissue Culture, a method of breeding plants, holds immense potential in various fields, from commercial production to laboratory research and the preservation of endangered plant species.

Mr. Sirapope Thangsuwan (Bay), a first-year student radiating enthusiasm, stated, 'The experiential learning opportunities crafted by the Food Biotechnology faculty showcase AU’s dedication to connecting us with industry leaders and nurturing a deep understanding of the cutting-edge innovations within this field.'


 

 

 

Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology students showcased their innovations under the themes BT 3015 Industrial Fermentation, FT 4117 Dairy Technology, and FT 4147 Industrial Fermentation Innovation and Products. The event was nothing short of captivating, featuring activities like wine fermentation and cheese production that left taste buds tingling.

Ms. Htet Htet Shweyee Wint (Wei), shared, "I learned a lot about wine fermentation and enjoyed working in a group. We all pitched in, and all teammates contributed." This showcase not only demonstrated the remarkable expertise of AU's Biotechnology students but also underscored the collaborative and innovative spirit that defines Assumption University.

Mr. Sai Aung Kham (Wei), who holds a Bachelor's degree in Food Technology from AU and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Food Science, emphasized the close-knit and supportive nature of the school, highlighting the Food Biotechnology Department's strong sense of community.
