Assumption University of Thailand Leads a Delegation to Attend Panzhihua University’s “Supporting the Common Prosperity Pilot Zone and Promoting the Construction of First-Class Applied Universities Conference”
From November 10th to 11th, 2023, representatives from Assumption University of Thailand (AU) were invited to participate in the 40th anniversary celebration of Panzhihua University. The delegation included Dr. Gao Li, the Dean of the International Cooperation Office (TCIC) of Assumption University; Dr. Rawin Wongurai, Director of the Advanced Research Center of Assumption University; Mr. Khongrit Chatpathomrak, Deputy Director of the Registration Office of Assumption University; and five teachers from Assumption University lead by Dr. Sirichai Preudhikulpradab, program director of Ph.D. in Hotel and Hospitality who participated in the cultural performances.
On November 10th, representatives from Assumption University of Thailand, accompanied by Director Cui Zhaohui of the International Cooperation Office of Panzhihua University, visited the Panzhihua Three-Line Construction Museum and the Panzhihua University History Museum. They gained a deep understanding of the establishment and development of Panzhihua University. Both parties discussed strengthening exchanges between the two universities in terms of researchers, teaching staff, management personnel, and students, as well as collaborating on scientific research and other innovative projects.
On the evening of that day, the grand celebration of the 40th anniversary of Panzhihua College was held, with over 6,000 students and faculty members gathering. As representatives of international cooperation universities under the Belt and Road Initiative, five teachers from Assumption University of Thailand presented a special performance during the event, showcasing a traditional Thai classical instrumental piece titled 'Love in Mengbala Naxi.' This composition, created by various composers, aims to depict the lifestyles of different regions in Thailand, including the northern, eastern, central, and southern areas. Each region has its own set of instruments, allowing musicians to authentically portray the local ways of life, norms, and traditions through music. However, regardless of the region, all instruments share almost identical melodies and rhythms; yet, each instrument may leave a distinct impression on the audience. When each different instrument plays the same song, the improvisation of each musician seamlessly coordinates with the core rhythm, ensuring the unity and perfection of the piece through different sounds.
On the morning of November 11th, Dr. Gao Li, Dean of the International Cooperation Office (TCIC) of Assumption University; Dr. Rawin Wongurai, Director of the Advanced Research Center of Assumption University; and Mr. Khongrit Chatpathomrak, Deputy Director of the Registration Office of Assumption University, were invited to attend the 'Climbing for Forty Years, Striving for a New Journey' - Supporting the Common Prosperity Pilot Zone and Promoting the Construction of First-Class Applied Universities conference. Together with major Chinese universities, they witnessed the 40-year development journey of Panzhihua University and discussed its future development direction.
Panzhihua University adheres to an open education approach, continuously deepening domestic and international exchanges and cooperation. With Assumption University, the two institutions have engaged in comprehensive collaboration in research and academic exchanges. In 2022, they established the 'Belt and Road Language and Culture Research Center' and the 'Sino-Thai Language and Culture Research Base' respectively. In this fruitful season of autumn, we warmly congratulate Panzhihua University on its 40th anniversary! We also extend our wishes for the ongoing expansion and progress of cooperation between the two universities, contributing to the abundant achievements in the educational development of both China and Thailand!
