In the hallowed halls of Assumption University of Thailand (AU), a rising star has emerged in the field of nursing science. Ms. Sireethorn Sangkanchanavanich, a dedicated student from the Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science, has achieved unparalleled accolades this year, including the prestigious 2023 Albert Prize Award for National Academic Achievement.

The Albert Prize Award symbolizes more than just academic dedication; it recognizes the unyielding drive Ms. Sangkanchanavanich has demonstrated in her field. "Her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to her studies and her profession are truly inspiring to all of us," stated Brother Bancha, President of Assumption University.

But her accomplishments don't stop there. Ms. Sangkanchanavanich also distinguished herself in the ICN competition, organized by the Nurses' Association of Thailand and the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. Her performance won her a scholarship to the coveted ICN Congress 2023 and a trip to Montreal, Canada.

When asked what led her to nursing, Ms. Sangkanchanavanich pointed to societal disparities and the ongoing pandemic. "The pandemic highlighted the crucial role of healthcare providers, especially nurses. These incidents inspired my pathway in nursing," she explained.

Winning the Albert Prize and an invitation to the ICN Congress felt surreal for her. "Being even a candidate in the ICN competition was an unexpected circumstance. Although I didn't get the scholarship from NAT, I had the backing of Assumption University and my family," she reflected.

Talking about the challenges, she emphasized the strong competition but found the experience enriching. "What raised me up were my supporters, including my family and the instructors at BLNS," she noted.

These awards have opened new outlooks for her. "Being part of the ICN Congress 2023 widened my view of the roles nurses can play beyond hospital settings," Ms. Sangkanchanavanich stated.

Ms. Sangkanchanavanich also shared some highs and lows of her journey at Assumption University. "Practicing in the hospital and in the study room has given me many new experiences, and the support from BLNS instructors has been invaluable," she said.

Ms. Sireethorn Sangkanchanavanich stands as a shining example of the kind of excellence Assumption University aims to cultivate. Her story is not just her own, but a testament to the quality education provided by the Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science, and indeed, Assumption University as a whole.

Congratulations, Ms. Sireethorn Sangkanchanavanich, on your well-deserved success. Assumption University is proud to have you as a part of its community and looks forward to your future achievements.
