Design and Digital Innovation (DDI) Program's Giadina Team Honored for Outstanding Accomplishments

In a resounding victory for innovation and academic excellence, the Giadina team from the Design and Digital Innovation (DDI) program at MSME Business School has emerged as the proud recipient of the prestigious 2023 Albert Prize Award for National Academic Achievement from Assumption University. Team Giadina included three exceptional individuals: Ms. Giada Bonetto, Mr. Nutthongchai Siriphokkaphat, and Mr. Natat Panitpongpun.

The team's visionary project centers around an application designed to provide self-help services for individuals grappling with stress and trauma. By harnessing the power of the Somatic Experiencing (SE) method, Giadina's innovative application offers immediate and effective relief to those in need. The prevailing challenges of today's fast-paced society served as the impetus for this transformative solution, with the team's firsthand experiences as students informing their approach.

Inspiration and Challenges: A Journey to Success

In a candid Q&A session, the Giadina team shared insights into their journey. The inspiration for their innovative idea stemmed from the escalating concerns surrounding mental health and well-being in modern society. “As students, we often witnessed our peers struggling with academic and social pressures. Traditional mental health services, although valuable, are not always accessible or timely.”, Mr. Natat explained, “We believed in the transformative potential of technology to provide immediate, effective self-help solutions. When we came across the Somatic Experiencing (SE) method, we saw an opportunity to incorporate it into a digital platform, democratizing access to stress relief and emotional well-being.”

Recognizing the limitations of traditional mental health services, the team saw an opportunity to leverage technology for widespread impact. The incorporation of the Somatic Experiencing method into their digital platform marked a pivotal moment, offering a pathway to stress relief and emotional well-being.

Overcoming challenges has been a hallmark of their journey. Balancing rigorous academic demands with project timelines, and navigating technical complexities while integrating the SE method into their application, required unwavering determination. The team's commitment to their project's potential to effect positive change remained unshaken, bolstering their perseverance in the face of adversity.

Diverse Backgrounds for Collective Success

Team Giadina's success was also attributed to their diverse backgrounds. Each member brought a unique skillset to the table, resulting in a well-rounded and multi-disciplinary approach. Mr. Nutthongchai's expertise in business strategy, Ms. Giada's background in psychology, and Tonkla's abilities in communication and public relations converged to create a formidable team. This diversity of skills was integral in shaping Giadina's holistic and effective approach.

Triumph in the Face of Challenges

A pivotal moment in their journey came when the team needed to pivot their initial idea to ensure its viability. This process, while complex, solidified their unity and determination. Securing a grant of 500,000 baht was an unforgettable milestone, validating their vision and emboldening their commitment to the cause. This achievement underscored the impact of their work and affirmed that Giadina was indeed on the right trajectory.

Future Prospects: Integrating Technology for Holistic Well-being

Having successfully developed their stress-relief application, Team Giadina now sets their sights on an ambitious future. The team envisions integrating Internet of Things (IoT) devices and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide real-time insights into users' mental health states. This bold step seeks to transform Giadina into a comprehensive mental health ecosystem, empowering individuals to actively manage their emotional well-being through technology.

The Albert Prize, named after Rector Magnificus, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, embodies the spirit of fostering excellence in student activities and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This year's event marked another milestone in the university's legacy of recognizing outstanding individuals and groups who have not only excelled in their respective domains but have also significantly contributed to the growth and betterment of our community. "We are incredibly proud of Team Giadina's remarkable achievement and the recognition they have brought to our university," said Brother Bancha. Their success reflects our university's commitment to fostering innovation and has earned them widespread recognition for their groundbreaking work in the field of mental health technology.

The entire Assumption University community congratulates Team Giadina on their well-deserved victory and eagerly anticipates their future contributions to the fields of design, digital innovation, and health technology.
