The Assumption University Alumni Association of Bangladesh (AUAAB) recently held a prestigious reception to honor Ahasanul Islam Titu, a distinguished alumnus of Assumption University of Thailand (AU), also known as ABAC, following his appointment as Bangladesh's new State Minister for Commerce. The event underscored the significant potential for enhanced cooperation between Bangladesh and Thailand, with optimism expressed by speakers about the future relations between the two nations.

The Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh, Makawadee Sumitmor, highlighted the pivotal role Mr. Titu will play in fostering Thailand-Bangladesh relations, stating, "I can see a bright future in terms of Thailand-Bangladesh relations. The newly-appointed State Minister will play a crucial role in supporting and strengthening collaboration between the two countries. The Royal Thai Embassy stands in support."

AUAAB is committed to strengthening ties among Assumption University graduates and facilitating strategic partnerships across various sectors, including education, trade, hospitality, tourism, and healthcare. The association's efforts to collaborate with the Thai Embassy in promoting bilateral relations were also emphasized.

Reflecting on Mr. Titu's journey, AUAAB President Sayeed Hassan said, "We believe with his knowledge and skills, he will make extensive contributions to the country's economy. I wish him all the success."

Mr. Titu, who graduated magna cum laude from Assumption University, has a distinguished career, including roles as the former Managing Director at Mona Financial Consultancy and Securities Limited and President of the Dhaka Stock Exchange. In his new role as the State Minister of Commerce, he is tasked with managing escalating commodity prices, a challenge he is well-prepared for, thanks in part to the values of honesty and integrity he attributes to his education at AU. "Assumption University means a lot to me. One of the things I learned at ABAC is the importance of honesty and integrity. These lessons are the reason behind whatever I am today," Mr. Titu expressed his gratitude.
