On 23 July 2025, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) proudly welcomed a distinguished delegation from the University a delegation from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. The visit, coordinated by AU’s Office of International Affairs, took place at Suvarnabhumi Campus and marked a promising chapter in potential academic collaboration.
Founded as a living memorial after World War I, the University of Leicester was built on the belief that education brings hope and can change lives—a vision that resonates deeply with AU’s mission. Now celebrating its centennial, Leicester is home to more than 30,000 students and has earned global recognition for research excellence in fields such as aerospace, health sciences, and archaeology.

The Leicester delegation was led by Professor Thompson Robinson, and Professor James Fitchett. The day’s activities began with a warm welcome at Sala Chaturamuk Phaichit, followed by high-level discussions with AU’s senior leadership in the King’s Room at the iconic The Cathedral of Learning.

During the visit, the delegates explored AU’s cutting-edge facilities including the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts’ Black Box Theatre, a student design thinking showcase at MSME Business School, and tours of the St. Louis Marie de Montfort Chapel, St. Luke Medical School, AU Sports Center, and Residence Halls—effortlessly navigated via AU’s Campus tram system.

A highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Professor Nishan Canagarajah, President and Paul Angrave representing the University of Leicester. This agreement paves the way for future collaboration—particularly in the development of an interdisciplinary business program. Both institutions are envisioning a curriculum that applies AI tools in International Business, Marketing, Finance, and Accounting, strengthened by industry partnerships.
The delegation also expressed shared interest in exploring future collaboration in the field of medicine—though still in its early stages—acknowledging that in today’s rapidly changing world of education, no institution can innovate in isolation.
The day concluded with a celebratory lunch at Le Coq d’Or VIP Room, where informal dialogue deepened mutual understanding and laid the groundwork for meaningful academic cooperation.
AU extends heartfelt appreciation to the University of Leicester for this memorable visit and looks forward to building a strong, future-facing partnership grounded in shared values, innovation, and global impact.
