SHANGHAI, May 14, 2025 — Assumption University of Thailand (AU) has taken a bold step into the future of education, signing a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Nanhu Vocational and Technical College during a landmark visit to China this week.

The agreement, signed at Nanhu College’s Cultural Center, outlines strategic collaboration in intelligent connected vehicles, healthcare training, and metaverse-based education. The AU delegation, led by AU President, Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., was received by Prof. Jianliu Zhu, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Nanhu College, and Vice President Zhou Yifeng.

Nanhu College is structured around five major academic groups: finance and commerce, tourism services, information technology, transportation, and culture and art. It is also home to several nationally recognized training facilities, including the Shanghai Vocational Education International Business Open Training Center, the Auto Repair Open Training Center, and the International Cruise Teaching Base.

As part of the visit, the AU delegation toured Nanhu’s 5G Digital Creativity Training Center, International Cruise Training Base, and New Energy Vehicle Smart Connectivity Center — all housed within the college’s Metaverse Digital Interactive Space, underscoring Nanhu’s integration of immersive technology and vocational innovation.

The partnership includes the establishment of a Sino-Thai Intelligent Connected Vehicle Joint Laboratory, aimed at co-developing curriculum tailored to ASEAN markets. The institutions will also collaborate on metaverse-based immersive nursing training, bridging technology with healthcare education.

Over the next three years, Nanhu plans to host 50 Thai exchange students and dispatch faculty to Thailand to co-develop localized academic content, reinforcing a shared commitment to international collaboration and future-ready education.
