Meeting with  The Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS) #2

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magnificus of Assumption University of Thailand (AU) was in the meeting chaired to members of The Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS) on November 1, 2021 at IRAS meeting room, The Cathedral of Learning, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

The meeting aimed to announce strategies and development processes of IRAS in order to enhance their operational effectiveness in AU research support. The new IRAS operational strategies correspond to current international and national research trends in which research outcomes are adapted into the teaching and learning processes and other developments. This meeting was a part of Transformation of Assumption University which has been initiated since June 1, 2021. Dr. Vindhai Cocracul, Vice President for Academic Affairs and the IRAS overseer, also participated in this meeting.

Meeting with Heads of Offices on "Smart Office"

Office of The President, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), organized AU Smart Office Meeting 2021 on October 27, 2021, at Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus. AU Smart Office Meeting is the project that is continued from the project “Transformation of AU”, which started on June 1, 2021. The meeting was aimed for various faculties and departments to adapt themselves and make changes in several respects regarding operations and services so as to build their excellence and sustainability in the future.


Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran
, President - Rector Magnificus, chaired the meeting and gave a special talk to Directors and Heads Department on AU Smart Office. The meeting was aimed to render policy planning guidelines and development of various departments including personnel, administration, and services, all of which are for enhancing the capacities of operations among the several departments.


Dr. Yupawadee Horpitakwong
, Director, Office of Policy, Planning and Quality Assurance, delivered a lecture on Smart Office of OPPQA. She gave an example of a case study on planning, job development, and human resources development. Also, the case study included developing work skills and adjusting various aspects. The lecture was delivered to boost OPPQA’s effectiveness and efficiency in operations and services.

Meeting with the Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS) #1

Office of The President, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), organized a conference on "Transformation" of the Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS) on October 6, 2021 at Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magnificus, was the meeting chair and gave a special talk to IRAS members about the future operations of IRAS, working formats, team working and knowledge management for future sustainability.

 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Warayuth Sriwarakuel, Vice President for Research and Academic Services, delivered a lecture on “Research in the 21st Century”, emphasizing the fact that research is one of the key work processes of Thailand’s Higher Education Missions.

 



In this event, AU President - Rector Magnificus also expressed his gratitude to Asst. Prof. Dr. Warayuth Sriwarakuel by giving him a special memento for his long commitment to AU academic services, research, and quality assurance.

Meeting with Key Persons of Supporting Offices

At present, there are rapid and extensive changes in various fields, such as the changing of the information age, the transition to social media or the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Such changes affect all sectors, whether it be people or organizations, which will need to be adjusted and changed in different aspects in order to develop and increase efficiency in various fields.

Assumption University has realized and placed importance on changes in various fields that have been occurred. Therefore, a meeting was then organized for brainstorming in all departments within the university, including administrators from Office for Student Affairs, deans and chairpersons from different Faculties, directors of postgraduate programs and directors and heads of departments in various offices in order that one another can help develop and change their working systems and services in various aspects as well as to increase quality and efficiency leading to the sustainability of the university. The New Look of Assumption University

Office of Human Resources Management organized the conference on Transformation of Assumption University on June 18, 2021 at Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Seanghiran, AU President-Rector Magnificus was the president of this conference on “The New Look of Assumption University”  in order that the directors and department heads from various offices can be informed of guidelines for working development, increasing the quality and efficiency of different working tasks by sharing knowledge, helping one another working together as a team. By doing so, each working unit needs to go back and analyze, review and help one another plan with the teams.

Meeting with all Administrators and Lecturers of Graduate Studies

Office of Graduate Studies, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) organized a meeting on Education Journey for Graduate Students on June 9, 2021 at Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, AU President- Rector Magnificus, chaired the meeting with deans, program directors and lecturers of Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management and Graduate School of Human Science, providing policies and guidelines for curricular development, together with the development in teaching, mentoring and counselling graduate students on various areas such as doing research, collecting data, writing an academic work and presenting the work or thesis to increase efficiency and quality on both students and the academic work or thesis itself.

This also encourages and advocates closer cooperation in doing academic work among faculty members, as well as the educator and his students, and helps increase academic achievements which can result in sustainable academic quality.

Meeting with Deans and Deputy Deans of all Schools

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) by Office of Vice-President for Academic Affairs called for a management meeting, on June 1, 2021 at Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus to brainstorm and determine management directions and potential teaching and learning methods of all AU faculties under the vision of Transformation of Assumption University.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, AU President-Rector Magnificus, presiding over the meeting, insisted on improvement and development of all AU faculties’ teaching and learning modes to produce successful graduates, equipped with critical thinking and other skills, needed for economic activities in the post-pandemic period.

With increasing social and economic complexities, all AU faculties are responsible for empowering their teaching and learning facilities to ascertain that their procedures of graduate production are up-to-date, effective and suitable for global needs.

The participants of the meeting included the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Deans and Directors concerned.

Meeting with Leaders from Student Affairs

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President-Rector Magnificus, conveyed his guidance and the work guideline to Student Affairs Administrators on Transformation of AU. The SA’s Administrators are led by Acting Vice President for Student Affairs, Rev. Bro. Dr. Achin Tengtrakul.

Assumption University has to testify her identity as a Catholic university existing for services. The Rector further elaborated on 2 challenges that higher educational institutions are facing- the first challenge is “the new landscape in HE” and the second is “About AU.”

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran also elaborated on how to care for the students under the title of ‘Educational Journey of AU Students under the Care of Our Faculty Members’.
These undergraduate students who have come to study are in the state of great change, and they need guidance.

They tend to follow friends in making decisions, live in the allurement of new ways of life and lack of engagement with the university life. Therefore, instructors are the only persons who can help them go through their journey. The instructors need to provide academic advising showing a clear academic path and help them retain throughout their programs.

Accordingly, the instructors, as advisors, are called upon to interact with students, work as
counselors or mentors to them and as educators by teaching them strategies for success,
helping them understand purposes of academic programs, providing problem-solving
