Why should we support Assumption University for “Tobacco-Free and Smoke-Free Policies”?
Tobacco-Free and Smoke-Free policies will benefit directly to all Assumption University people. The majority of university people is non-tobacco users. In promoting these policies, non-users will be protected from the harmful effects of secondhand tobacco smoke and e-cigarette aerosol as the motto “One person smoke, a hundred are sick.” Moreover, the AU community including administrators, lecturers, staff, and students must reduce the social acceptability of tobacco product use and collaborate in the activities to promote tobacco cessation and prevent tobacco use initiation among AU people.
Based on the national statistic, the prevalence of tobacco consumption among people aged between 19-24 years old is dramatically increasing. In order to prevent them from premature death and several possible chronic diseases caused by tobacco use, therefore, the university student is a priority group for tobacco cessation.
Lend a gentle helping hand for enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future of AU students.
