Latest Updates, Preparation & Compliance with Personal Data Protection Act Highlighted

The insightful seminar on Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) was organized by the Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University, on November 16,  2020 at the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G. to enlighten participants with the pertaining legal matters, complications; especially the preparation and readiness of the academic institutions in tackling its impacts and practical compliance with the vital issues. 

Presiding over the training, Mr. Sompol Na Songkhla, AU Vice President for Legal and Priviledge Affairs, delivered the welcoming address highlighting on the significance of the training topic.

Since the Personal Data Protection Act B.E 2562 (2019) partially implemented with the intended full implementation in this coming 2021, necessary preparation and readiness of the educational institutions as the data collectors and users, which would be unavoidably impacted by this act, was of vitally significance. For these reasons, this invaluable training was essentially worthwhile and timely to educate, enhance knowledge, understanding with appropriate handling tactics & skills of such Personal Data Protection Act being enforced; particularly for the academic institutions' administrators.

The extremely useful training, participated by representatives from high schools, colleges, universities and I.T. professionals from business institutions, featured expert speakers including legal professionals from government sector and distinguished Law Firms i.e. VERITAS LAW (VL) and ACIS PROFESSIONAL CENTER (ACIS), who elaborated on the various aspects of the given subjects covering the following major points:

- Overview of Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2526 (PDPA)
- Principles of Data Protection
- Duties of Data Supervisors, Data Collectors and Data Protectionists
- Appeal and Liability of Institutions
- Preparation if Educational Institutions for PDPA Act
