Assumption University’s Graduate School of Human Sciences (GSHS) successfully hosted a culturally enriching field trip to the historic city of Ayutthaya on December 16, 2023. The trip, which spanned from early morning to late afternoon, was part of the GSHS's initiative to integrate cultural awareness into its curriculum.

The group embarked from Hua Mak Campus, and spent the day traversing the timeless landscapes of Ayutthaya. The itinerary kicked off with the serene Rakna Cafe Ayutthaya, where participants indulged in traditional snacks while gazing upon the verdant rice fields, a quintessential Thai vista.

The highlight for many was the visit to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, where students and faculty alike donned traditional Thai costumes, connecting with the country's heritage on a personal level. The historical site, which has also graced television screens, provided a spectacular backdrop for understanding Thailand’s rich history.

The group enjoyed an authentic Thai lunch at Ban Mai Rim Nam, with the Chao Phraya River lending a tranquil ambiance. The Ayothaya Floating Market was a fitting conclusion to the trip, with its array of traditional crafts and local delicacies, allowing everyone to take a piece of Thai culture back home.

Returning to AU, Hua Mak Campus, participants shared their experiences and reflections on a day well spent. The field trip not only offered a break from the academic routine but also reinforced the importance of cultural understanding in today’s global society.
