WRITER: ALBERTO FIRRINCIELI

On Friday 10th March 2023, Louis Nobiron School of Music hosted a Composition Senior Recital of the Chinese student Xie LinHan (Alex).

In the performance, Alex showcased her brand new compositions. The first piece was a work for piano solo, a set of variations upon a Bach Chorale. Then, work for the accordion, a still quite rare instrument in many Asian countries. The third piece was a work for four-handed piano, followed by a work for orchestra (arranged for the large ensemble for the performance).

Alex started her music studies at the age of 4, playing accordion. This instrument has been her major for several years, and for this reason, she has decided to compose a work for it. Apart from it, Alex is a multi-talented performer, as she can also play piano and harpsichord. Moreover, she is a wonderful singer. At Assumption University of Thailand, she studied Composition Major and Harpsichord as her minor both under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Alberto Firrincieli.

This performance represents a very important achievement under different points. After 2 years of pandemic and several troubles and difficulties, Alex was not only able to conclude her studies with a wonderful performance, but also bring on the stage her own music and perform it with skillfulness and confidence. Surely, she can be considered an example for many other students.

The Performance has been well attended by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University of Thailand (AU) attended alongside the members of the Confucius Institute, and also the Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pannawit Sanitnarathorn and Chairperson, Asst. Prof. Kittisak Poolsawat and many students attended the performance.

We wish our best to our brand new graduating student for her bright career and future.

Voice from AU Musician

About me

My musical journey began when I was 4 years old, I started my accordion class. In 2013, I chose Accordion as my major to study at Affiliated School of Yunnan Arts University. Then I realized I wanted to continue developing my musical skills after graduating from high school. In 2018, I chose Com- position as my major and Harpsichord as my minor to study at Assumption University under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Alberto Firrincieli. In 2022, I have had the great honor to be appointed President of Chinese Students community at ABAC, School of Music. Since 2013, I took part in several Accordion and Vocal competitions where I always won good awards. Apart from my studies at ABAC, I am also a private Accordion, Piano and basic theory of music teacher for 4-16 years old students.

Special thanks:

First of all, thanks to my family. I wish to thank them for always supporting me whatever I wanted to do and giving me enough financial support. They are the most important persons in my life, and also the most powerful ones behind me.

Then I wish to thank my dear teacher Aj. Alberto, he is my composition and harpsichord instructor.  He has not been only a teacher to me, but also like a father.  I still remember that when I first came to ABAC: my English was not fluent at all, and level of my playing skills was not high. He not only didn’t dislike me, but also patiently taught me a lot of knowledge about music and English. During these four years of study in ABAC, I have experienced setbacks, and also thought of giving up my studies at ABAC. I was also lazy, but he never gave up on me. He always encouraged me and accompanied me, giving me strength and pushing me forward in a way that I think is the best. I'm really grateful for everything he gave me. I wouldn't be here without him.
