WRTITER: THE AU LIBRARY

Assumption University of Thailand concluded its highly successful English communication skills development workshop, English for All by Albert Laurence with a special tour led by A. Piya Sailomraksa, Counselor of Student Affairs, to Bro. Martin’s Collection on the sixth floor of the AU Library. The workshop, which was offered free of charge, ran from August 28th to September 6th, and catered to Ph.D. graduate students from China.

The purpose of this visit was to provide the participating Chinese students with a glimpse into the life story of Assumption University's revered figure, President Emeritus, Rev. Bro. Prathip Martin Komolmas, and the remarkable history of the University's foundation. As the focus of the final workshop was public speaking, the students were encouraged to explore the collection, select an item that resonated with them, and prepare a presentation for their peers.

The students were deeply impressed by the extensive collection of books owned and read by Bro. Martin, which vividly showcased the diversity of world cultures through the gifts and souvenirs he received. These items served as a rich source of inspiration for the students' presentations, fostering a deeper appreciation for global perspectives.

Notably, the participants in this group are university educators from China, working to educate the next generation of leaders. They are set to depart from Thailand at the end of this week, carrying with them cherished memories from their time at Assumption University. Additionally, they intend to share the visionary insights of Brother Martin, which they gained during this workshop, with their students back in China.

Assumption University continues to be committed to fostering global education and cross-cultural understanding. The success of the English communication skills development workshop demonstrates the university's dedication to empowering students worldwide with valuable skills and experiences.
