On September 13, 2024, Rev, Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, President of Assumption University of Thailand, led a delegation of faculty leaders to visit Chengdu Vocational and Technical College of Industry, where they attended the opening ceremony of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program for the 2024-01 cohort, consisting of 80 Chinese students. The successful visit and ceremony mark a significant step forward in international education cooperation between the two institutions, opening a new chapter for their collaborative efforts.
During the visit, President Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka engaged in in-depth discussions with the leadership of Chengdu Vocational and Technical College of Industry, exploring the prospects and direction for their cooperative education programs. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening communication and collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of the project, providing students with high-quality educational resources and international learning opportunities.
Before the ceremony, accompanied by the leadership team of Chengdu Vocational and Technical College of Industry, the Assumption University delegation toured the international campus of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program. President Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka highly praised the modern, intelligent construction of the School of Intelligent Automotive Manufacturing, appreciating the professionalism and advanced facilities that ensure the smooth operation of the program.
Later, the opening ceremony of the program took place in the Academic Conference Hall of the university’s Information and Library Center. In his speech, President Su Yanchuan of Chengdu Vocational and Technical College of Industry warmly welcomed the new students attending the ceremony and expressed his high expectations for them. President Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka also delivered a speech, introducing the history and educational philosophy of Assumption University and expressing his heartfelt hopes and best wishes to the 2024-01 cohort of Mechanical Production and Automation students. Both presidents reviewed the preparation process of the cooperative education program and looked forward to its promising future, emphasizing that this project not only builds a vital bridge for educational cooperation between China and Thailand but also helps students develop into high-quality talents with an international perspective.
Teacher representative Xiong Baoyu and student representative Su Hong also gave speeches at the ceremony, expressing their support and expectations for the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program. Xiong Baoyu highlighted how the program will greatly enhance students' academic abilities and international competitiveness, while Su Hong shared his excitement and hopes for participating in the project.
At the end of the ceremony, a photographer captured the precious moment in front of hundreds of witnesses, with the university leaders, staff, and the 2024-01 cohort students all posing for a group photo.
The launch of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program provides more Chinese students with the opportunity to study high-quality international courses locally and paves the way for their future academic and career development. Through this program, students will not only master mechanical production and automation expertise but also acquire trilingual proficiency in Chinese, English, and Thai, becoming highly competitive international talents.
