BANGKOK, Thailand - Assumption University of Thailand (AU) is delighted to announce a strategic partnership with the Chengdu Lawyers Association, signed on March 28, 2024. This collaboration aims to enrich the field of legal services, foster talent development, and promote research and practical training in Thai-related legal practices.
Rev. Bro. Dr. Verayuth Boonpram, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Assumption University, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating,"We are thrilled to join hands with the Chengdu Lawyers Association to advance legal education and practice. This partnership is a significant step towards creating a global legal community that is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of international law."
As a key initiative under this partnership, a "Seminar for Foreign Lawyers on Foreign Investment in Thailand" was conducted by A. Aek Wonganant from Thomas Aquinas School of Law, he said that this program focusing on critical areas such as Thai foreign investment law, Thai investment promotion law, and Thai dispute resolution mechanisms. This seminar aimed to enhance the expertise of Chengdu lawyers in Thai international investment and dispute resolution, with thirty specialized lawyers participating in the training.
Dr. Kitikorn Dowpiset, Dean of the Graduate School of Human Sciences at Assumption University, highlighted the importance of the seminar, saying,"This seminar serves as a bridge between Thai and Chinese legal practices, offering a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and exchange. It is essential for cultivating legal professionals who can adeptly handle international legal matters in our interconnected world."
The Chengdu Lawyers Association has been committed to strengthening the training of foreign-related legal talents, with a current roster of 103 leading talents and 101 reserve talents. The association's efforts align with the broader goal of fostering a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment in Chengdu, supported by a cadre of outstanding foreign-related lawyers.
This partnership between Assumption University and the Chengdu Lawyers Association is expected to yield significant benefits in legal education and international collaboration, contributing to the development of competent legal professionals and the promotion of legal cooperation between Thailand and China.
