On December 5th, 2022, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of the Assumption University of Thailand (AU), went to the Chinese Embassy in Thailand to mourn the passing of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

Jiang Zemin, former Chinese President, passed away due to illness in Shanghai, China, at 12:13 p.m. on November 30, 2022, at the age of 96.

H.E. Dr. Han Zhiqiang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, and Mrs. Feng Junying, Counselor of Education, received Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran. H.E. Dr. Han Zhiqiang expressed his gratitude to Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran for coming to express his condolences, and accompanied Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran to mourn to former President Jiang Zemin.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran paid tribute to the portrait of former President Jiang Zemin and wrote this in the condolence book: “Deepest and sincere condolences for the dismiss of the one of the greatest men. May his soul rest in peace.”

Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU), Ms. Kannika Ponamnuaysuk, Secretary of CIAU, A. Xiong Minxuan, Chinese lecturer of CIAU, Dr. Bing Zhu, Department of Marketing, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, and A. Thanat Saenghiran accompanied Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran to express condolences to former President Jiang Zemin.
