On February 3, 2023, Dr. Naree Aware Achwarin, who worked as an instructor at the Graduate School of eLearning (GSeL) at Assumption University of Thailand, presented the budding of the Golden Leaf plant to Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, President of the University.

The Golden Leaf has a local name- "Daud Creeping Plant." It is a new species discovered in Thailand. It has its Botanical name, "Bauhinla Aureif Alia,” which Professor Dr. Kai Lasern, a Botanist from Denmark, coined in 1989. It is recorded in the Nordic Journal of Botany on three fits of the rage of 253-256 Copenhagen, Denmark.

The name is given by the colour of its leaf, as in (Chryso for the gold colour and phyllum for the leaf). This species gives flowers almost yearly, but the maximum number of flowers are found from October to February. The only area where this unique species grows is Bacho Waterfall in the "Budo" National Park in the District of Bachok, Narathiwat Province.

To mark this special occasion, Rev. Bro. Bancha gave a warm welcome, received the budding of this unique tree at de Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus, and forwarded the buddings to Mr. Kongkiet Worawong, Head, Physical Plant Department (Suvarnabhumi Campus).
