WELCOME SPEECH

“Welcome and warm greetings to everyone gathered here at Assumption University for today's significant signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between our two esteemed institutions. It is with great honor and pride that we enter into this collaboration with Naresuan University, appointing it as the mentor university for the newly established Faculty of Medicine at Assumption University.

The formation of a medical faculty in Thailand mandates the support of a mentor university, a prerequisite fulfilled today, thanks to the gracious assistance of Naresuan University. On this momentous occasion, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the President and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Naresuan University for their willingness to guide and support Assumption University in this venture.

The inception of the Faculty of Medicine at Assumption University is a realization of the vision set forth by Brother Martin Komolmas several decades ago. His dream was to establish a medical faculty dedicated to producing compassionate physicians who would serve humanity. This faculty has been named St. Luke School of Medicine in honor of this noble mission. Dr. Boon Vanasin's visionary leadership and commitment to educating doctors for Thailand's public health system, particularly in response to the needs of our aging society, have been instrumental in making this dream a reality.

Assumption University stands ready to embark on this journey with the support of Thonburi Healthcare Group Public Company Limited, with the shared goal of contributing to the advancement of medical and public health sectors in Thailand, in line with Brother Martin's vision.

On this special day, I wish to express my deepest appreciation to all involved, especially Dr. Boon Vanasin, for the honor of collaborating with Assumption University in establishing the Faculty of Medicine and developing its curriculum with the support of Thonburi Healthcare Group.

I also extend my thanks to the Thonburi Hospital Group, particularly Ms. Sutjitr Muangkasem and the team of esteemed medical professors, as well as Professor Dr. Yuwares Sithichanbancha, our appointed Dean, whose expertise and leadership will undoubtedly steer the St. Luke School of Medicine towards achieving its vision and fulfilling its mission.

Thank you, everyone, for gracing this event with your presence.

May God bless us all.”

-Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, Rector - President of Assumption University
