National Day of Malaysia, 31st August

Malaysia has its origins in the Malay Kingdoms present in the area which, from the 18th century, became subject to the British Empire. The first British territories were known as the Straits Settlements, whose establishment was followed by the Malay kingdoms becoming British protectorates. The territories on Peninsular Malaysia were first unified as the Malayan Union in 1946.

Malaya was restructured as the Federation of Malaya in 1948, and achieved independence
on 31 August 1957. Malaya united with North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore on 16 September 1963, with is being added to give the new country the name Malaysia. Less than two years later in 1965, Singapore was expelled from the federation.

Malaysia is a land of opportunities where natural resources abound, labour is cost effective, industrial land ample, infrastructure adequate and the currency is relatively strong. All these are cased within a framework of official policies and incentives that provide for a dynamic and efficacious economic climate.

Malaysia's Independence Day is celebrated on 31 August. Also known as Merdeka Day (Freedom Day), this is Malaysia's National Day.

Relationship between Assumption University of Thailand and Malaysia

The President-Rector Magnificus and the Academic Community of Assumption University of Thailand greets and congratulates the Government and people of Malaysia on the occasion of the National Day of Malaysia, on August 31, 2023.

The University community is pleased that currently there are Malaysian students enrolled in some undergraduate and graduate degree programs and we wish all our Malaysian students a happy celebration on their country’s National Day.

A group of Executives from International Islamic University, Malaysia, was on an educational tour of Assumption University’s Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science, Hua Mak campus. The team also visited Suvarnabhumpi campus.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nanthaphan Chinlumprasert, Dean and other faculty members warmly welcomed the group on January 17, 2016.

A group of Executive and Students from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Visited Hua Mak Campus on September 23, 2011. Greeted and warmly welcomed by Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, Dean, Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology.

A group of Executive from Universiti Sains Malaysia, visited Suvarnabhumi Campus on December, 2010. After being greeted and warmly welcomed by the AU executives, they were given the guided tour around Suvarnabhumi Campus.
