WRITER: THE AU LIBRARY
On December 5th, Thailand comes together to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, also known as Father’s Day. This day serves as a tribute to the beloved late monarch’s extraordinary contributions to the nation, including his dedication to sustainable development, education, and the well-being of all Thai people.
Known as the "Father of the Nation," His Majesty King Bhumibol’s visionary projects, particularly in agriculture and water management, have left a profound legacy that continues to benefit communities across Thailand. The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, pioneered by the King, remains a guiding principle for sustainable and balanced development, inspiring generations to follow his wisdom.
Father’s Day is also a special time for families to honor fathers and father figures, showing gratitude and appreciation for their love and sacrifices. Across the country, people engage in merit-making, almsgiving, and paying respects to their fathers, both living and departed.
Campus Closure Notice
Please note that Assumption University of Thailand (AU) will honor this important national holiday by closing both campuses on December 5th, 2024. Normal operations will resume the following day. We encourage everyone in the AU community to take this time to reflect on His Majesty’s enduring legacy and cherish moments with family.
