On October 11, 2024, the Assumption University of Thailand (AU)‘s community came together at both Suvarnabhumi and Hua Mak Campuses to honor the legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, a beloved leader whose dedication and vision continue to inspire the nation. The ceremonies were organized by the Office of Thai Art and Culture, Student Affairs, with great care, reflecting the deep respect and admiration for His Majesty.
The Remembrance Ceremony at Suvarnabhumi Campus began with an assembly in the King Room, first floor of the Cathedral of Learning Building. At 10:05 AM, AU faculty, staff, and students gathered to pay homage to His Majesty, placing a wreath as a symbol of heartfelt remembrance. Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka,f.s.g., Ph.D., President of AU, delivered a moving tribute, emphasizing the values His Majesty held dear and the impact of his lifelong service. Participants observed 89 seconds of silence, a touching gesture marking His Majesty’s 89-year-long life of dedication.
Later, at 4:00 PM, the Hua Mak Campus gathered at Assumption Hall, 1st floor, to conduct the same heartfelt tribute. The ceremony unfolded in a similarly reverent manner, with the placing of the wreath and a tribute from AU President. The quiet unity of those in attendance was a powerful testament to the deep respect felt for His Majesty.
Attendees were encouraged to wear yellow attire, a color representing the late King’s birth on a Monday, to honor him. Many wore yellow tops, creating a sense of unity and respect throughout both gatherings.
The Remembrance Ceremony was a time of reflection, unity, and deep gratitude, as the AU community paid their respects to the memory of a great leader. His Majesty’s vision, compassion, and leadership will continue to guide and inspire future generations of Thai citizens and beyond.
