The Easter Sunday is also called the Resurrection Sunday. It is still the prolongation of the celebration of the ultimate Victory of Christ over death with special emphasis of Christ appearing to some of his disciples to make them witnesses of his Resurrection all over the world.
The Glory of Christ's Resurrection is also for us. In Christ, humankind has conquered sin and death. Therefore, whenever we face hardship and persecution, let's take courage, for Christ has conquered the World for our sake.

Easter Sunday

Holy Saturday, 16 April

The Holy Saturday Vigile Mass is the most solemn celebration. It recalls the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the triumph of life over death, the victory of love and light over sin and darkness. It marks a new beginning of the journey in the Light of the risen Christ symbolised by the Service of Light and the lightening of the Easter Candle at the starting of the celebration. It teaches us that there is no desperate situation before God, for he alone can make life spring from the tomb, shattering everything that prevents us from reaching true success. The grace of the Risen Christ empowers to be victorious in everything when we unite ourselves to him.

Good Friday, 15 April

Good Friday recalls the extreme suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, as a ransom for our salvation. That is why, Catholic believers all over the World, venerate the Cross as the wood on which hang the Redeemer of the world, and practice exercises of penance such as fasting, the way of the Cross, abstinence and silent meditation the whole day.

Jesus on the Cross teaches us to be patient in suffering for noble causes and for the sake of our brothers and sisters, believing that our Creator God is in control over everything.

Holy Thursday / Maundy Thursday, 14 April

The Holy Thursday reminds us the Lord Jesus Christ's Last Supper with his Apostles. On the eve of his death, Jesus washed the feet of his apostles to foster the Spirit of humility and service. Out of love, he instituted the Sacrament of his Most Holy Body and Blood, and that of the Holy Priesthood to perenise his presence in the Church. The Holy Thursday's celebration urges us to give up our pride and selfishness and choose the path of humility, loving service and compassion...

Palm Sunday, 10 April

The Palm Sunday begins the most sacred week of the Christian year. It is so called, because on that sunday, palm branches are blessed and carried during the procession into the Church to commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and to celebrate his Passion that led to his Death and Resurrection.

It reminds us that we too can win crown and glory through our sufferings and pains and encourages us to always see and use our time of adversity as occasions of growth and maturity.

Holy Week 2022 (Sunday, April 10 – Saturday, April 16, 2022)

What is Holy Week?

During Holy Week, Christians recall the events leading up to Jesus’ death by crucifixion and, according to their faith, his Resurrection. The week includes five days of special significance. The first is Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus’ humble entry (on a donkey) into Jerusalem to observe Passover.

According to the Gospel account, he was greeted by crowds of people who spread their cloaks and laid palm leaves in his path and proclaimed him the Son of David (Matthew 21:5). In many Christian churches Palm Sunday is celebrated with a blessing and procession of palms.

Maundy Thursday marks Jesus’ institution at the Last Supper of the Eucharist, thereafter a central element of Christian worship. In Roman Catholicism, Maundy Thursday is accompanied by the pope’s washing of the feet of 12 humble or poor persons, in imitation of Jesus’ washing of the feet of his 12 disciples at the Last Supper.

Good Friday commemorates Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross; it is traditionally a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting. Holy Saturday, also called Easter Vigil, is the traditional end of Lent. Easter Sunday is the celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection, according to the Gospels, on the third day after his crucifixion.

The modern observance of Easter, like that of Christmas, has become associated with various folk traditions that have little connection with the religious celebration; they include the Easter lamb, the Easter rabbit, and the painting of Easter eggs.

Palm Sunday, 10th April

Here at the start of the week, through celebration, remembrance and sacrament, we are brought into the heart of the story and the extremes of human experience.

Holy Monday 11th April

On Holy Monday, Christ, visits his friends, Lazarus, Martha and Mary at Bethany where, in a prophetic action, Mary anoints Jesus for burial. He knows the peril he is facing.

On Tuesday, Jesus reaches Jerusalem for Passover and crowds are drawn to him. Jesus teaches them that unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it cannot bear fruit.

On Wednesday, at supper with his friends, Jesus tells them that one of them will betray him. Judas goes out into the night.

Maundy Thursday, 14th April

Maundy Thursday takes us into the heart of the city of Jerusalem for the Passover supper. We are also led to the heart of love, by the Saviour who serves and washes the feet of his friends. After supper they go out to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus asks his disciples to stay awake while he prays.

Judas, the betrayer, comes with soldiers and Jesus is arrested.

Good Friday, 15th April

Good Friday is a day in which profound emotion is expressed within quiet and solemn worship, as we journey with Jesus through the pain and anguish of false trial and condemnation, to carrying his cross through the streets to crucifixion and death.

Easter Sunday, 17th April

On Easter Sunday we celebrate with joy the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord. This is the turning point in history. We now live in the light and truth of the resurrection
