Assumption University’s Suvarnabhumi Campus recently witnessed a night of cultural celebration with the AU Loy Krathong 2023: AU Sukhothai event. The festivities, organized by the Assumption University Student Organization (AUSO), were a resounding success, showcasing the rich Thai culture and the spirit of the AU community.

 
 
 

The event saw attendees engaging in the traditional art of making Krathongs, which were later set afloat in a serene ceremony. Various activities filled the campus with laughter and joy, including the delightful Spoon the Egg game and numerous engaging game booths.

One of the event's highlights was the AU Noppamas Queen 2023 Contest, where Ms. Natcha Keawnoun (AOM) of the AU Dance Club, Theodore Maria School of Arts was crowned the winner. The 1st Runner-Up title was gracefully secured by Ms. Thitaree Wangdithanachok (TINGTING) from the Theodore Maria School of Arts, and the 2nd Runner-Up was Ms. Chotiros Lalert (KATOON) from the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics. Adding to the excitement, Ms. Prapawarin Rungruengsiripol (SEEN) from the Thephane Venard School of Biotechnology won the hearts of the community, earning the Popular Vote.

 
 
 

Adding to the festive atmosphere were the food and photo booths, offering culinary treats and memorable snapshots. The option for attendees to wear traditional Thai costumes brought an extra layer of authenticity and celebration.

 
 

The evening concluded with the Soundtruck concert, a unique musical extravaganza that blended modern rhythms with traditional melodies, providing an unforgettable end to a day full of joy, culture, and community pride.

A commitment to sustainability was evident throughout the event. Thoughtfully placed waste bins for different types of waste underscored the university's dedication to environmentally friendly practices.

In the spirit of continuing the festive traditions, Assumption University is excited to announce an upcoming Krathong Making Workshop. This creative and cultural Krathong Making Workshop will be held at the Central Library, Hua Mak campus, on Monday, 27th November, starting at 1:30. Everyone in the AU community is warmly invited to participate in this hands-on experience, where you will have the opportunity to create your own Krathong. Whether you're a seasoned craftsperson or trying this for the first time, the workshop promises to be a fun and enriching experience, perfect for getting into the festive spirit. We look forward to seeing many of you there and celebrating this cherished Thai tradition together.
