Combining a café or coffee shop with a bookstore has become increasingly popular. This combination creates a unique ambiance that appeals to book lovers and coffee enthusiasts. It provides customers with a relaxing atmosphere where they can browse books, read, socialize, work, and order fresh coffee, tea, and snacks. In addition, it also provides free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating.


This new project is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krisana Kitcharoen, Vice President for University Foresight and Advancement at AU, who is responsible for creating and implementing institutional advancement programs. He works closely with the President to cultivate new revenue streams to advance the University’s mission.

 

The new “Uncle Bob Coffee” will meet the following objectives:

  • It will provide an area in the newly renovated bookstore for shoppers to shop, relax and order drinks.
  • It will enhance the vitality and vibrancy of the university environment by introducing a new and exciting addition to the campus.
  • It will serve as a new meeting spot for the AU Community and as a check-in and photo-taking point.
  • The name “Uncle Bob Coffee” reflects the personality traits of Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran- relaxed, simple, kind, gentle, and friendly.
 

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, the Office of the President organized the “UNCLE BOB COFFEE” opening ceremony. To mark this special occasion, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, AU President, presided over the opening ceremony of “UNCLE BOB COFFEE” at ABAC Bookstore (Ground floor, P Building), Assumption University of Thailand (AU), Hua Mak Campus.

After the opening ceremony, AU President handed out the 90th Birthday Celebration of President Emeritus's shirts to representatives of AU administrative units to prepare to wear and start celebrating on April 28, 2023.

“Thank you all who came together today. We are one family; I come here as one of the family members, nothing more,” said the President.
