On Friday May 26, 2023 at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai Bangkok, TCI (Thai Journals Citation Index Center), in collaboration with TSRI (Thailand Science Research and Innovation), NECTEC (National Electronics and Computer Technology Center), and KMUTT (King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi) hosted a meeting of 48 Thai journals already indexed in SCOPUS, along with 45 prospective journals for the next phase. The objective of the meeting was to recognize and present an award to each of the 8 outstanding journals who were the chosen winners of awards in 3 categories:

(1) Most Improved Percentile Award – 3 winners This award was given to three top journals which have secured their
place in Q1 or Q2 and achieved remarkable growth in their percentile. ABAC Journal, of Assumption University,
under Dr. Absorn Meesing as chief editor, was the first winner in this category.
(2) High Citation Award - 3 winners This award was given to three journals with high citations as assessed via 3
metrics: citations per publication, FWCI, and number of citing countries.
and (3) TCI Popularity Award - 2 winners This award was given to journals according to the popular vote of the TCI
team, based on participation, communication, and collaboration of the chief editor.

The TCI-TSRI-SCOPUS COLLABORATION PROJECT was launched in 2017 by the initiative of Prof. Dr. Narongrit Sombatsompob, Director of TCI, who had observed the difficulties of Thai journals in attempting to get indexed in international databases like Scopus during 2005-2017. With policy and financial support from TSRI, the TCI team has been working closely with SCOPUS. Accordingly, by early 2018, TCI successfully submitted its first 10 journals in Scopus. ABAC Journal was one of these ten. Until now, 6 years later, TCI still keeps its records of ‘no rejection’ from Scopus. In addition, these 8 winners can be recognized as outstanding outputs of the project.

As for ABAC Journal, in the past, no Thai journals ever acquired a high quartile ranking in Scopus, with most being placed in lower quartiles, Q3 or Q4. ABAC Journal was placed in Q2 in Literature and Literary Theory at 74th % in 2019, Q1 in Literature and Literary Theory at 88th % in 2021 until present. To date, TCI oversees 1,270 registered journals, rising almost twofold from 736 journals in 2017, perhaps partially due to the success of this project.
