From November 15 to 17, the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference convened in the Chinese capital, marking a momentous occasion in international Chinese language education. The event, hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Education, featured opening remarks by Vice President Han Zheng and a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping, who celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute’s establishment.

In his letter, President Xi highlighted the global significance of the Chinese language, describing it as a vessel for the millennia-old wisdom of Chinese civilization and an essential cultural contribution to the world.

 
 
 

The conference, themed "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance, Innovation," aimed to foster innovative, high-quality international Chinese education while promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations. It drew over 2,000 participants, including government officials, experts, scholars, educators, and diplomatic representatives from more than 160 countries and regions.

CIAU Delegation Highlights

Among the esteemed attendees were representatives from the Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU):
Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Chinese Director of CIAU
Mr. Khongri Chatpathomrak, Thai Director of CIAU
Mr. Qu Zhigang, Vice President of TUST

Directors of the Confucius Classroom at Assumption College Thonburi and the Mongolia Yucai Chinese School, jointly established with Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST).

The conference underscored the importance of international cooperation in Chinese language education and highlighted the role of cultural exchange in fostering understanding and trust between nations.
