It’s not every day that a first-year biotechnology student makes headlines for athletic prowess, but Mr. Chayut Charoendhammatad is no ordinary freshman. Representing the Peak Performance Swim Club, Chayut dove into the Thailand National Swimming Championships (Region 2) 2024 and emerged victorious with a gold medal in the 200 M. breaststroke and a bronze in the 100 M. breaststroke.

The talented first-year student from Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) proved that balancing the rigors of academia with the demands of competitive sport is not only possible but can also lead to triumph. Competing in the Boys Group 1 category, Chayut took to the water like a natural, leaving his competition in his wake.

Held at the Suphanburi Sports School swimming pool from October 12–14, 2024, the event saw Thailand’s brightest young swimmers battle it out. But it was Chayut who stole the show.

With such a strong start to the academic year, it’s clear that Mr. Chayut’s future holds as much promise in biotechnology as it does in swimming – if not more. Keep an eye on this rising star; he’s certainly not treading water.
