In a vibrant display of cultural unity and celebration, Assumption University’s Confucius Institute recently hosted the Mid-Autumn Festival, a Chinese tradition that resonates with millions across the globe. This event brought together students, faculty, and the entire AU community to experience the richness of Chinese culture.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, often referred to as the Moon Festival, is a time-honored Chinese custom that transcends borders. It not only marks the bountiful harvest but also serves as a poignant moment for families and friends to gather and appreciate the beauty of the full moon, symbolizing unity and togetherness.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, welcomed everyone to the festival with heartfelt words. He emphasized the importance of understanding and appreciating the traditions and customs of different cultures, especially in today's globalized world. Such understanding, he noted, fosters empathy, builds bridges of friendship, and strengthens the bonds that unite us as a diverse and inclusive university community.

The festival featured an array of activities designed to immerse participants in the customs and traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. From arrow-throwing and fan calligraphy to dressing in traditional attire, these activities provided a unique opportunity to experience the cultural richness of China and promote cross-cultural understanding.

One highlight of the event was mooncake making, where Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice Rector for Moral Development Education, and Assumption University's President and Rector Magnificus joined the stage to craft their own mooncakes. This hands-on experience allowed participants to engage directly with one of the festival's most cherished traditions.

Another captivating moment came from Ms. Kanyarat Ratanasaovapak, a 4th-year student from the Department of Business Chinese, who showcased her musical talents by playing the Guzheng, a Chinese zither with 2500 years of history. The mesmerizing performance added a musical dimension to the festivities.

In the spirit of unity and togetherness, the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Assumption University served as a testament to the university's commitment to diversity and inclusivity. It encouraged all participants to learn, share, and celebrate the beauty of different cultures.
