Innovation, Identity, and Induction: FBI Celebrates Memory-Making Milestones

A day of innovation, identity, and inspiration united the FBI community at Assumption University of Thailand.


The Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation (FBI) at Assumption University of Thailand (AU)  successfully hosted a landmark academic and ceremonial event on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, at Salle d’Expo, Hua Mak Campus, bringing together students, alumni, faculty, and university leadership in a program rich with purpose and pride.

Advancing Sustainability Through Innovation

The afternoon opened with the FBI Seminar featuring the timely talk, “Innovative Transformation of Sugarcane Residues: A Strategy for PM 2.5 Reduction”.

The seminar was delivered by Mr. Sitthirong Rengngieb, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB), Ministry of Industry, highlighting how food biotechnology and industrial innovation can play a critical role in addressing Thailand’s environmental challenges.

The session was formally welcomed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Patchanee Yasurin, Dean of the Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation, who reaffirmed the School’s commitment to research-driven solutions with real-world impact.

A Token of Appreciation was presented by Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of Assumption University of Thailand, recognizing the speaker’s contribution to academic dialogue and national sustainability goals.

A Ceremony of Belonging: FBI Pin Decoration

Following the seminar, the event transitioned into the FBI Pin Decoration Ceremony and Last Orientation, one of the School’s most meaningful traditions.

In his address, Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D. spoke about identity, responsibility, and the values carried by FBI students as future professionals in science, innovation, and service. The FBI Pin Decoration Ceremony, personally presided over by the President, symbolized students’ formal induction into the FBI academic community, an emblem of both pride and purpose.

Alumni Voices and Student Excellence

The program continued with an engaging “Sissy Talk” alumni sharing session, where Ms. Chanita Intathong (P’Aim), Owner of IMAIM, and Ms. Patchanee Yasurin (P’Tik) shared candid entrepreneurial journeys, offering inspiration grounded in real experience.

Each award and recognition underscored the School’s culture of leadership, achievement, and community engagement.

The session concluded with the introduction of the FBI Student Committee 2026, led by Mr. Kaung Myat Aung (River), whose energy, approachability, and leadership spirit have made him a trusted voice among students and a strong representative of the FBI community.

The event concluded with group photographs capturing the collective spirit of the FBI family, from freshmen and seniors to alumni leaders and student committees, marking a day that blended academic vision, institutional tradition, and shared pride.
