In Loving Memory of Mr. Yanatorn “Aon” Premkamol (1983–2025)

WRITER: THE AU LIBRARY

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Mr. Aon Yanatorn Premkamol, a beloved member of the Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ‘ s community, who left us far too soon at the age of 42. Just two weeks after his birthday, on July 17, 2025, Aon passed away peacefully following a long and courageous battle with stomach cancer.

Aon was more than a faculty member. He was a friend, a mentor, a joyful spirit, and someone whose smile could light up an entire golf course.

An alumnus of AU’s Business English program, Aon returned to serve his alma mater with heart and passion. Most recently, he worked as Advisor at the Center for Sports & Physical Fitness,  Student Affairs. His career also included time with the Asian Volleyball Confederation, AVC Headquarters, and roles that reflected his deep love for sport, travel, and storytelling—including a stint as a photographer at Universal Studios Hollywood.

He held a Master’s in Physical Education from Kasetsart University and wore many hats with quiet pride—but none as proudly as the ones marked by kindness, humor, and fierce loyalty to his friends.

Aj. Aon was a globetrotter with a soft heart and serious running shoes—he ran the Bangkok Marathon, and even completed a half marathon in Chiang Mai earlier this year. He loved his iced coffee and he loved people. His circle of friends stretched across borders and time zones, held together by laughter, shared stories, and the kind of support only Aon could give.

Behind his ever-present smile, Aon carried the quiet weight of a decade-long battle with chronic illness. But he never let it dull his shine.

His final birthday message, posted just two weeks ago,  on July 3, offers a glimpse into his resilient and radiant spirit:

🎂💗 Happy Birthday to Me 💗🎂
🏵️ May this year be filled with happiness and smiles
🌸 May I be strong and brave through whatever comes
🏵️ May I have clarity in every decision
🌸 May I stay healthy and welcome only good things into life
🙏🏻 Thank you to my family, to my loved ones, and to the good friends who have stood beside me always

Aon lived with open arms, an open heart, and eyes full of wonder. His absence leaves a silence, but his memory fills it—with laughter, with love, and with light.
