Honoring Excellence: Orientation for Recipients of The Honor of King Rama X Scholarship Held at AU

WRITER: OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS

On June 12, 2025, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) held an orientation session for recipients of The Honor of King Rama X Scholarship at Suvarnabhumi Campus. The event, organized by the Financial Assistance Division in collaboration with the Office of the University Registrar, was designed to welcome and prepare scholarship recipients for a successful University experience.

This year, 30 students are currently enrolled under this prestigious scholarship—three in their fourth year and nine each in the first, second, and third year of study.

The session was graced by the Vice President for Student Affairs, who delivered a heartfelt welcome and words of encouragement, inspiring students to uphold the values of academic excellence and noble conduct. A commemorative gift was presented as a token of appreciation for his ongoing support of student development.

Highlighting the long-term impact of the scholarship, three AU alumni—former recipients themselves—also attended the session. Now serving as lecturers and staff members at the University, they shared their experiences and success stories, offering both inspiration and practical guidance.

The scholarship program was originally established in 1999 (B.E. 2542) by Rev. Bro. Prathip Martin Komolmas, the then-President of AU, in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) on the auspicious occasion of his 72nd birthday. It was awarded at His Majesty’s discretion to children of royal servants, youth under royal patronage, and students from Wang Klaikangwon School under the Royal Patronage.

Covering full tuition and accommodation, the scholarship continues to support deserving students throughout their undergraduate studies—provided they maintain good academic standing and exemplary behavior.

Previously known as the Navamindrabopitr 72nd Birthday of His Majesty the King Rama IX Scholarship, the award was renamed The Honor of King Rama X Scholarship in 2024, reflecting the continued royal legacy of educational support and national development.
