On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ’s Suvarnabhumi Campus hosted a Basic Woodball Training Seminar at the Wiset Srisamut Room, The Cathedral of Learning Building, drawing participants from private universities across Thailand.

The training was organized by Student Affairs Committee of Association of Private Higher Education Institutions of Thailand under The Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn (APHEIT).

The event was officially opened by Acting Sub Lt. Dr. Yutthana Suwannatar, Vice President for Student Affairs at AU, whose inspiring leadership continues to shape AU’s vibrant student life. Known for his tireless support of extracurricular enrichment, Dr. Yutthana emphasized the importance of holistic development through sports, wellness, and teamwork.

Joining the opening ceremony were Dr. Nantana Chavasirkultol, Chair of Student Affairs Committee, and Ajarn Nuntapon Phanthudech, who outlined the objectives of the training. A special keynote on the origins and growth of woodball was delivered by Dr. Pattanachart Kridibvoran, President of the Thailand Woodball Association.

Participants learned about the sport’s unique history—originating in Taiwan in the 1990s, blending elements of golf, croquet, and gateball. Thailand has embraced woodball wholeheartedly, becoming a regional leader in promoting the sport across educational institutions.

The day combined theory and hands-on practice, covering everything from official rules to scoring systems. Field activities allowed participants to gain firsthand experience, fostering both skills and camaraderie. Each participating institution received a full set of training equipment to take back for future practice.

With only 28 institutions selected to join the training, the event proved to be a rare and rewarding opportunity for all who attended.
