Freshmen Seminar Brought AU Graduate Students Together in Pattaya

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ’s Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management and Graduate School of Human Sciences brought new students together for the Freshmen Seminar Program (Semester 3/2025) at Dusit Thani Pattaya on March 7–8, 2026, creating a lively start to graduate life through welcome traditions, team-building activities, and shared experiences designed to build connection across the student community.

The two-day seminar began with registration at AU ’s Hua Mak Campus before students departed for Pattaya. Upon arrival, the program officially opened with an address by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President for Educational Innovation and Graduate Studies, setting a warm and purposeful tone for the event.

One of the seminar’s most meaningful moments was the Bai Sri traditional welcome ceremony, which gave the program a strong sense of culture, belonging, and shared identity. The ceremony was followed by lunch and an afternoon of ice breaking and team building for GS-BATM, led by Dr. Apichart Intravisit and team, helping students connect with one another in a spirited and engaging environment.

The first day continued with student check-in and concluded with a cheerful evening program featuring dinner, group performances, and entertainment, giving participants an opportunity to relax, participate, and celebrate the beginning of their graduate journey together. The event’s Black & White Party theme added a festive touch to the evening and helped create a memorable sense of occasion.

On the second day, students gathered for breakfast, checked out after submitting a freshmen seminar survey, and shared a final lunch before returning to AU’s Hua Mak Campus. The seminar closed not simply as a trip, but as a carefully organized introduction to graduate life, combining hospitality, community spirit, and student engagement in a setting designed to help new students feel welcomed and ready for the semester ahead.

Organized by the Office of Graduate Studies, the seminar reflected AU’s continued commitment to creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment for graduate students from their very first days on campus. It was, in every sense, a strong beginning, equal parts orientation, celebration, and community-building.
