The Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science of Assumption University of Thailand (AU) marked a historic milestone with “A Blessed Gathering: Honoring 40 Years of Legacy in Nursing Science” a solemn Holy Mass held at the Chapel, Hua Mak Campus, to celebrate four decades of excellence in nursing education, research, and service to society.
Presided over by Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of AU, and Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, f.s.g.,Ph.D., Rector Magnificus, the celebration brought together administrators, faculty, students, and distinguished guests to honor the enduring legacy of the Faculty since its beginnings in 1985 under the visionary leadership of Rev. Bro. Martin Komolmas and its official establishment in 1988 under A. Sirianan Chutateme, the Faculty’s pioneering dean.
As part of the commemoration, Asst. Prof. Dr. Onouma Thummapol, Dean of the Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science, delivered a heartfelt reflection on the faculty’s 40-year journey. She honored the remarkable contributions of past deans; Asst. Prof. Dr. Nanthaphan Chinlumprasert, Dr. Pimsiri Bhusiri, and Dr. Phat Prapawichar, along with the generations of educators and students whose dedication and compassion have shaped the faculty’s identity and mission.
The Rector Magnificus offered a special blessing, recognizing the faculty’s unwavering commitment to forming competent and compassionate nurses grounded in integrity, faith, and Christian love.
The reflection also paid tribute to Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, Patroness of the Faculty, whose humility, devotion, and healing spirit continue to guide and inspire the faculty’s work.
The celebration served as both a moment of gratitude and a reaffirmation of the faculty’s mission to advance nursing education rooted in compassion, excellence, and the spirit of Saint Bernadette. With forty years of achievement behind them, the Faculty of Nursing Science looks toward the future with renewed purpose — continuing to form nursing professionals who make meaningful impacts on individuals, families, and communities.
