Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed esteemed delegates from Central Asia for the Thailand-Central Asia International Education Consortium Cooperation Forum, held on April 28 – May 3, 2025, at the Suvarnabhumi Campus. The event brought together institutional leaders and visionaries to strengthen partnerships and promote academic collaboration across borders.

This high-level forum was organized in cooperation with the “New Silk Road” Foundation, whose Chairman, Kim Won-ho, envisions a 21st-century revival of the ancient trade route to connect Korea and Central Asia through academic, cultural, and human-resource exchange. According to an article in The Korea Times, the Seoul-based foundation is underwritten by Golden Bridge Financial Group and plans to open a branch office in Uzbekistan to support exchange programs and events across the region.

The occasion provided a unique platform for open dialogue, cross-cultural understanding, and the formalization of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between AU and its international partners.

Participating Universities:

Eurasian Technological University (Kazakhstan)
Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages (Kazakhstan)
Bishkek State University named after Kusein Karasaev (Kyrgyz Republic)
Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University (Kyrgyz Republic)
Uzbekistan State World Languages University (Uzbekistan)
Renaissance University of Education (Uzbekistan)
Tajik National University (Tajikistan)

The event opened with a warm welcome from Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of AU, followed by keynote speeches from the Chairman of the “New Silk Road” Foundation and institutional leaders. Delegates also enjoyed an immersive campus tour, a thematic academic session led by AU deans, and a formal MoU Signing Ceremony

The cooperation forum concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony and a celebratory welcome dinner at the President’s House. As AU continues to champion internationalization, this forum signifies a key milestone in bridging Thai and Central Asian educational networks.
