Faculty Orientation 1/2025 Kicks off Academic Excellence at Assumption University

With a renewed commitment to academic excellence and holistic education, AU’s Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs proudly hosted Faculty Orientation 1/2025 on 29 May 2025 at the Hua Mak Campus. The full-day program brought together experienced educators and new faculty members alike to share best practices, reinforce institutional values, and prepare for a successful academic year.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, opened the orientation with a warm welcome and an insightful presentation on the University’s mission, vision, and core values. Her session offered a comprehensive overview of academic policies and key procedures, including the advising system, examination protocols, and proctoring standards.

An important session on administrative operations and HR procedures was led by Mr. Thitapat Watchalapong, Director of the Office of Human Resources Management. Faculty gained clarity on employment benefits, university policies, and available support mechanisms.

The spotlight then turned to classroom excellence with a dynamic session on Effective Teaching Strategies, conducted by Dr. Nichanan Sakolvieng, Assistant Dean of the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics (MSME). Her engaging session encouraged active learning, inclusive pedagogy, and learner-centered teaching.

Following a networking lunch, Dr. Pornpop Saengthong and Dr. Suwin Ymcharoen of the Institute for Research and Academic Services shared valuable knowledge on research development, including grant opportunities, institutional support, and publication strategies.

To further professional advancement, Dr. Nathaya Pupat, Director of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rawin Vongurai, Assistant Vice President for Research and Academic Services, provided a clear overview of the Academic Title Application process, benefits, and advancement pathways.

The event concluded with heartfelt remarks from Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, who encouraged faculty to embody the AU spirit of academic leadership, service, and lifelong learning. She reminded participants that at AU, educators are not only teachers but also mentors, changemakers, and role models who have the power to shape futures.

Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the orientation was more than a formal introduction—it was a celebration of AU’s academic values and an affirmation of its mission to empower students and educators alike. With shared purpose and professional unity, AU faculty continue to inspire excellence in education and foster a global community of learners and leaders.
