WRITER: CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE AT ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY

On April 20, 2023, International Chinese Language Day 2023 was celebrated by Confucius Institute at Assumption University of Thailand (CIAU) at 7^th Floor, CL Building, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

At this event, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University of Thailand (AU), has given an opening remarks to all the guests about the event’s objectives and extended a warm welcome to all guests to visit AU in the future.

It is also an honor for us to have Mr. Niels Egelund, President of International Business Academy in Denmark, Pro. Gao Faming, Vice President of Tianjin University of Science and Technology in China, Mr. Pablo Javier Rojas Paredes, Director of Confucius Institute at Mayor San Simón University in Bolivia and Mr. Purevrachaa Bayaraa, Principal of UI Tsai School in Mongolia deliver their congratulatory speech online.

Ms. Ildikó Antal, Director of International and Confucius Institute at International Business Academy in Denmark, Mr. Wu Zhenjun, Director of International Exchange Office and Dean of College of Humanities and Law, Tianjin University of Science and Technology in China, Mr. Zhao Peiqin, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office, Tianjin University of Science and Technology in China, Prof. Zhang Rongxiang, Director of Confucius Institute at Mayor San Simón University, in Bolivia, Ms. Xu Xiaoqing, Director of Confucius Institute at International Business Academy in Denmark and Ms. Du Huiying, Director of Confucius Classroom at UI Tsai School in Mongolia also attended this event.

The Students from Assumption University of Thailand, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, International Business Academy, Mayor San Simón University and UI Tsai School also watched the performances online.

The event was hosted by Mr. Glen Chatelier, Director of the Office of International Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of Confucius Institute at Assumption University, who served as English and Chinese hosts respectively.

The teenagers from Thailand, China, Denmark, Bolivia and Mongolia performed various Chinese cultural shows for us. We have Chinese poetry recitation, Chinese dancing, Chinese songs singing, Calligraphy, playing Chinese instruments and so on.

In particular, Ms. Kanyarat Ratanasovapak, a student from Department of Business Chinese, Theodore Maria School of Arts, who was the Winner of Thailand from The 21^st Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Student, performed Guzheng "Jasmine Flower" on behalf of Assumption University of Thailand to all the guests.

This event aims to welcome the 14^th International Chinese Language Day and promote cultural exchange between Thailand, China, Denmark, Bolivia and Mongolia in the field of Chinese language. Attendees enjoyed a diverse array of cultural performances highlighting the richness and beauty of different civilizations.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran also recorded a congratulatory video for International Chinese Language Day, which was included in the video collection of the "International Chinese Language Day" celebration of Thai Confucius Institute (Classroom) Development Alliance. The video attracted a viewership more than 200,000 individuals.
