Catwalk AU Fashion Week: A Celebration of Your Unique Styles, AU Students

WRITER: DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION

Catwalk Fashion Week, a unique event in GE’s course, is not just a fashion show. It’s a celebration of your styles, a boost to your positive self-image, a platform for self-expression, and a nurturing ground for a strong sense of identity. But more than that, it’s an inspiring opportunity for personal growth, a chance to explore your strengths, collaborate with your classmates, and foster a strong sense of community and belonging. Participating in Catwalk Fashion Week can enhance your confidence, develop your leadership skills, and provide a platform to express your unique personality. This special event is a journey of personal growth, enhancing your positive mindset, and building valuable relationships with diverse students and faculty.

Dr. Archaree Phiphadkusolkul, the Assistant to the Dean for Student Affairs and instructor for GE 2209: The Power of Personality in Leadership, is crucial in organizing and executing Catwalk Fashion Week. Her knowledge, commitment to personal growth, and position as course coordinator make her essential to the event’s success and enjoyment. She emphasizes the significance of having an impactful personality on the people we interact with within an organization. Dr. Archaree Phiphadkusolkul states, “Personality encompasses more than just clothing choices; it includes attire, appearance, facial expressions, hygiene, pleasant scents, manners, emotional intelligence, mindset, attitude, and professionalism, which define who we truly are. Crucially, our appearance influences how we experience life.”

Through her dedication and efforts, numerous workshops have showcased the potential of AU students, allowing them to embrace their unique qualities, present themselves professionally, and inspire pride in their imaginative beauty.

Catwalk Week for this semester, 2/2025, was scheduled over three days: February 24 and 25, 2025, starting at 4:30 PM at the CL Lobby, organized by students enrolled in sections 401 and 402. The event continued on February 27, 2025, at 4:30 PM at the CL outdoor, organized by students from section 403.

The show began with students from section 401, themed “Old Money with a Twist,” showcasing their passion and excitement for exploration. Their enthusiasm for the theme was palpable, and they shone with their uniquely coordinated hair and clothing styles. Their steps flowed like a dance to the rhythm of the music. Dr. Archaree Phiphadkusolkul added, “It is fantastic. I am so grateful for your hard work and creativity. You have reminded me of a quote: “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. You did it, my dear students. Excellent.!!”

The following day, February 24, 2025, the stage was adorned with the theme “Flashbacks of Fashion,” accompanied by dramatic music to capture everyone’s attention. Students from section 402 entered wearing diverse shoes and fashionable makeup shades, feeling as if they had walked straight out of fashion magazines. Their poised posture in the center and subtle smiles held the audience’s attention. Dr. Archaree Phiphadkusolkul smiled and remarked, “You have always made me proud. I give you a thumbs up!”

Catwalk Showcase gloriously ended with the theme “Oscar Fashion Show,” inspired by students in section 403. Dr. Archaree Phiphadkusolkul reflected, “The clothing styles fit the theme well, and every walking step illustrated an inner feeling of confidence for each student. Their show made us feel like a professional fashion show walk.”She said, You are doing so well; it is truly amazing. We all love it.!!! We appreciate your effective teamwork and value your time. We hope you keep your confidence in your life journey. We are so proud of you.”

As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming semester, we invite all AU students interested in fashion, self-expression, and personal development to plan their participation in Catwalk Fashion Week.
