Six AU Students from Schools of Arts, Music and Engineering distinguished themselves in the 12th World Peace Ethics Contest and won top prizes for the first time.
On April 1st 2021, the World Peace Ethics Club (World-PEC) by Dr. Petcharat Lovichakorntikul, Director of World-PEC presented the 12th World-PEC Contest 2021 Awards to 6 AU awardees.
The purpose of this award presentation is to recognize top awardees of the 12th World Peace Ethics Contest for Young People who are remarkable in their competences in the Ethics test, which reflects that young people can learn and understand ethical values with inner peace and can forward this to their family, society, and country. Finally, it can create love, harmony, and true peace.
Our AU students from the GE2202 Ethics subject participated in the contest and brought home with pride top awards as follows:
- Ms. Ashika Yeasmin Angkur, 2nd year student, from Vincent Mary School of Engineering received the second Certificate of Excellence (first runner up) with a 7,000 baht cash prize
- Mr. John Roy, 3rd year student, from School of Music received the third Certificate of Excellence (second runner up) with a 5,000 baht cash prize
- Mr. Tanyasit Leelapattanasuk, 2nd year student, from Business English, Theodore Maria School of Arts received the eighth Certificate of Excellence with a 1,500 baht cash prize
- Mr. Pornthep Thongsuk, 2nd year student, from Business English, Theodore Maria School of Arts received the nineth Certificate of Excellence with a 1,500 baht cash prize
- Ms. Nophamas Santativongchai, 2nd year student, from Business Japanese, Theodore Maria School of Arts received the thirteenth Certificate of Excellence with a 1,000 baht cash prize and
- Ms. Laura Ihechukwu Ajaegbu, 1st year student, from Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology received the fourteenth Certificate of Excellence with a 1,000 baht cash prize
On this occasion, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, AU President - Rector Magnificus graciously presided over the opening ceremony. He gave a welcome speech and indicated the AU Uniqueness and Identity in which ethics plays such a considerable role.
Next, Dr. Petcharat Lovichakorntikul, Director of World-PEC presented each significant award to the awardees. She then delivered her speech and defined the origin and the goal of World-PEC. Besides, she expressed her gratefulness and recognition to AU representatives and the University for their support.
Next, Ms. Ashika Yeasmin Angkur, who earned the second Certificate of Excellence reflected the benefits gained from participating in the World-PEC contest.
Following that Mr. John Roy, the second runner up, expressed his impression on the contest and committed himself to participating in the World-PEC camp again for his future betterment.
Subsequently, Mr. Pornthep Thongsuk, the awardee from School of Arts conveyed his thoughts on the lessons learned and his personal development from the World-PEC online camp.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureepong Phothongsunan, Dean, Theodore Maria School of Arts, later gave a thankful speech to the World-PEC team for organizing this worthwhile event and addressed the need for instilling morals and ethics into young learners.
Last but not least, Dr. Jaruwan Puangmalee, Chairperson, the General Education Department remarked that extra-curricular activities can indeed help encourage students to improve their self-learning and personal development.
