On June 13, 2025, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) warmly welcomed a distinguished delegation from the World Academy of Sustainable Development and the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) at its Suvarnabhumi Campus.
Later that morning, and witnessed by all attendees, the World Academy of Sustainable Development Science at AU was officially inaugurated. This groundbreaking institute is set to become a central hub for promoting the UN SDGs in Southeast Asia through interdisciplinary research, capacity building, and international exchange.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President for Education Innovation and Graduate Studies of AU, emphasized in his remarks that the establishment of the institute not only reflects the University’s steadfast commitment to sustainable development but also creates a solid foundation for strategic partnerships with leading international organizations.
Mr. Zhou Jinfeng, President of the World Academy of Sustainable Development, and Mr. Han Guowei, Special Representative of the CBCGDF Chairman, also delivered keynote speeches. Both highlighted their dedication to working closely with AU to advance green technology, ecological conservation, and youth development, addressing pressing global environmental challenges through collaboration and innovation.
The three parties engaged in in-depth discussions centered on sustainability education and international cooperation. These productive conversations culminated in the signing of a formal cooperation agreement that lays the groundwork for a new era of collaborative initiatives.
Seizing this strategic moment—defined by accelerated global green transformation and the deep integration of technological innovation—the three institutions, driven by their shared vision of “empowering industry through education and guiding practice through academia,” agreed to jointly launch world-class master’s and doctoral training programs. These programs will also support students in progressing to postdoctoral research at prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Additionally, the parties expressed a shared commitment to promote the formation of a Model United Nations student association rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to cultivate global citizenship and leadership among young people.

By combining AU’s academic excellence and international accreditation, CBCGDF’s expansive resource network in green economic practice, and the World Academy of Sustainable Development’s scholarly authority in sustainability, the collaboration will create a transformative platform. This platform will integrate talent cultivation, academic research, and the application of scientific achievements to accelerate the global green development agenda.
Prior to the conference, the delegation toured several of the university’s flagship academic units, including the Confucius Institute, the Thai-Chinese International College, the Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science, and Technology, and the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts. This visit offered the guests a firsthand view of AU’s diverse academic offerings and its strong international orientation.
This landmark event signifies AU’s proactive role in advancing global sustainability efforts and marks the beginning of a promising new chapter in collaboration with China’s foremost green development institutions.
