Suvarnabhumi Campus, Samut Prakan – December 3, 2025
To elevate the quality of life and hygiene standards for the university community, the Office of the Vice President for Legal and Privilege Affairs at Assumption University of Thailand (AU), in close collaboration with the Bang Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), successfully organized the “SAN Certified” Award Ceremony (Sanitation, Accountability, Network). The event, held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the CL Building, 1st Floor (ABAC Plaza), recognized 48 food vendors who passed rigorous hygiene inspections under the “New Normal” safety protocols.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Worawat Pan-ngoen, Permanent Secretary and Acting President of the Bang Sao Thong SAO, who honored the university by presenting the certificates.
A Commitment to “Clean, Safe, Standardized” Living
Mr. Kitti Suwanna, Head of Legal and Administration Services Department, delivered the report on the project’s objectives. He highlighted that AU prioritizes the health and safety of its students, faculty, and staff above all else. In the era of the “New Normal,” food sanitation management has become a critical mission. The university has adhered strictly to the Public Health Act B.E. 2535 (1992) to build consumer confidence.
The “SAN” standard, developed by the Department of Health, stands for:
-
- S – Sanitation: Environmental management ensuring clean and safe food preparation.
- A – Accountability: Responsibility in risk assessment and regular inspections.
- N – Network: Cooperation between officials and operators to protect consumers
Rigorous Assessment and Local Collaboration
The 48 awarded vendors—operating in ABAC Plaza, AU Mall, ABAC Cafeteria, and the Student Dormitories—underwent strict evaluations conducted by the university committee and experts from the Division of Public Health and Environment, Bang Sao Thong SAO. The assessment covered five key risk factors: location, food quality, utensils, personnel hygiene, and pest control.
During his opening speech, Mr. Worawat Pan-ngoen praised the university’s vision. “Hygiene and safety are no longer just options, but the ‘survival’ and success factors for entrepreneurs in the New Normal era,” he stated. He urged the vendors to view the certificate not just as a symbol, but as a commitment to maintaining these standards for the health of every student and staff member.
The ceremony was also attended by a high-level delegation from the Bang Sao Thong SAO, including Mr. Anan Tanticharoonroj (Director of the Division of Public Health and Environment), along with Deputy Permanent Secretaries and Sanitation Technical Officers, reinforcing the strong network between the local government and the educational institution.
United Leadership for Student Well-being
Representing the university’s leadership on behalf of Mr. Werasak Anusontivong, Vice President for Legal and Privilege Affairs, Mr. Aek Wong-anant, Director of the Office of the Vice President for Legal and Privilege Affairs, delivered a heartfelt congratulatory speech.
Mr. Aek expressed his gratitude to the “wind beneath the wings”—the Physical Plant Department and the Operation and Maintenance Department—whose tireless work in managing utilities, waste, and general cleanliness made achieving the “Sanitation” (S) aspect of the standard possible. He challenged the vendors to “maintain these standards as salt maintains its saltiness,” ensuring sustainable safety for the community.
Furthermore, the event was honored by the presence of Acting Sub-Lieutenant Dr. Yutthana Suwannatarn, Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Yutthana participated as a witness to the ceremony, congratulating the entrepreneurs and emphasizing that safe, high-quality food is fundamental to the physical and mental readiness of students in their academic pursuits.
Moving Forward
The “SAN Certified” ceremony marks a significant milestone in AU’s ongoing effort to create a healthy, safe, and supportive campus environment. By integrating legal standards, public health expertise, and community cooperation, AU continues to ensure that its “New Normal” is one of excellence and well-being.
