Assumption University of Thailand (AU) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, as it hosted its esteemed AU Awards for Excellence 2024. The event, held at the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort on the Suvarnabhumi Campus, celebrated the unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions of faculty and staff members who have been pivotal to the university’s sustained success.
The day commenced with an Assemblage Ceremony from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, setting a reverent and festive atmosphere. The ceremony featured the conferral of several prestigious awards designed to recognize excellence in various facets of university life.
St. Martin de Tours Award for Excellence in Performance was presented to three senior administrators who demonstrated exceptional efficiency and quality in their academic and administrative roles. Honorees included Dr. Sasithorn Phonkaew, a full-time lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management; A. Suchira Phoorithewet, from the Department of Marketing; and A. Supawan Rattanakom, representing the Department of Mathematics. These individuals were lauded for their superior teaching, counseling, and contributions to the university’s academic environment.

Following the performance awards, the St. Bernard Award for Special Merit was bestowed upon Dr. Weeraya Donsomsakulkij, Assistant to the Dean for Quality Assurance and Management at the Theodore Maria School of Arts. Dr. Donsomsakulkij was recognized for her exceptional managerial skills and her innovative initiatives that have significantly enhanced departmental operations and overall university efficiency. In the realm of research, Dr. Rusma Kalra received the St. Thomas Aquinas Award for Commendable Research. As Assistant to the Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of the Arts Research and Academic Service Center, Dr. Kalra’s groundbreaking research has notably elevated AU’s reputation and academic prestige, contributing to numerous publications and innovative projects.

The next sessions continued with the St. De La Salle Award for Commendable Service, honoring seven faculty members for their over twenty-five years of dedicated teaching at AU. Dr. Nathaya Pupat, Director of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs; Asst. Prof. Suparath Valaisathien from the Department of Architecture; A. Dhirachat Chayaporn of Digital Business Management; A. Chairat Kamrueng from Mechatronics Engineering and Artificial Intelligence; A. Piyanan Sarobol of General Education; A. Jitravadee Singhaniyom from Business English; and A. Arthisak Pratheepsurat of Student Affairs were commended for their sustained excellence and unwavering commitment to education.

The St. Joseph Award for Dedicated Service was awarded to six long-serving staff members who have contributed over twenty-five years to AU’s operations. Ms. Chamaiporn Rongsirikul, Mr. Sukan Chansaeng, Mr. Chatcharn Wangtoemklang, Mr. Atthawit Sukchuen, Ms. Bubpha Luangpikulthong, and Ms. Srikhun Sawasdee were recognized for their exemplary service and dedication, significantly enhancing the student experience and supporting the University’s Administrative functions.

The ceremony concluded with a Luncheon Reception at the John XXIII Conference Center, providing an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the day’s achievements and celebrate together. The festivities continued into the evening at the Hua Mak Campus with the Christmas 2024 & New Year Celebrations. The Salle d’Expo hosted the Conferral of Staff of the Year Awards, a captivating performance by the AU Chorus, and a vibrant Christmas Party that united staff and students in joyous celebration.
The evening’s events culminated with a solemn Christmas Mass at the Chapel of the Annunciation and a Midnight Mass back at the Suvarnabhumi Campus, followed by refreshments at the John XXIII Conference Center, embodying the spirit of unity and gratitude.


The AU Awards for Excellence 2024 not only recognized individual accomplishments but also reinforced AU’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, gratitude, and community spirit. As AU moves forward, these honored individuals serve as role models, embodying the values and aspirations that define the university’s mission in higher education.
