Assumption University of Thailand (AU) continued to expand its international partnerships as a senior delegation visited Tianjin University of Science & Technology (TUST) on November 17, 2025 to advance joint initiatives in education, research, and academic exchange.
Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon, Vice President for Research and Academic Services of AU, the delegation included Dr. Gao Li, Assistant Vice President for Educational Innovation and Graduate Studies, along with administrators and representatives from both AU and Assumption College Thonburi.
Deepening a Strong Sino–Thai Academic Relationship
During the high-level meeting with TUST President Prof. Lu Fuping and university executives, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation, with discussions focusing on:

- Expanding the Confucius Institute at Assumption University as it approaches its tenth anniversary
- Joint undergraduate dual-degree programs and co-supervised postgraduate research
- Collaborative research in biotechnology, food science, and alcoholic-beverage fermentation
- Opportunities in new-energy vehicle engineering, a rapidly growing field in China
- Future plans to co-establish an Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and advance cross-disciplinary research
TUST highlighted its national strengths in food science, bioengineering, and applied research, proposing enhanced faculty exchanges and accelerated development of joint international laboratories.
Exploring Advanced Research Facilities
The AU delegation toured key TUST facilities, including the National Key Laboratory of the School of Food Science and Engineering and the Analysis and Testing Center of the School of Bioengineering. These visits identified actionable pathways for collaboration, providing new opportunities for AU students and faculty to engage with China’s growing innovation ecosystem.
A New Chapter for Sino–Thai Academic Collaboration
This visit reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between Assumption University of Thailand and Tianjin University of Science & Technology. Both universities agreed to use the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute as a milestone to expand cooperative programs, launch joint research funds, and strengthen scholar exchange mechanisms.
As AU continues to build global bridges across Asia, this partnership marks another significant step in promoting internationalized education, scientific innovation, and meaningful cultural exchange.
