MAAD’s open house revealed flexible pathways where art, design, and the creative economy converge.
The Master of Arts in Art and Design (MAAD) program hosted an open-house session on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Seminar Room, Hua Mak Campus, welcoming art students and art enthusiasts interested in advancing their creative journey at Assumption University of Thailand(AU).
After nearly one year of successfully delivering a bilingual MAAD program for Chinese students, the Graduate School of Human Sciences (GSHS) announced its readiness to welcome new graduate students residing in Thailand. The program will be conducted at the Hua Mak Campus and follow the MBA block teaching calendar, offering a flexible hybrid format with weekend classes suited to working professionals and emerging creatives.
During the session, prospective students learned about the two-year MAAD program, which blends rigorous studio practice with critical theory, digital and new media, and professional preparation. The hybrid learning model combines on-campus and online instruction, allowing students to balance academic study with professional commitments.
Undergraduate students from Assumption University of Thailand, particularly those from the Monfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design and the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, were informed of the opportunity to transfer up to four relevant undergraduate courses into the MAAD curriculum, subject to program conditions.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Satha Pongsatha, Dean of GSHS, emphasized that the MAAD program integrates artistic creativity with entrepreneurial thinking, enabling students to explore expanded business and career opportunities through arts and culture.
Showcasing the program’s impact in practice, A. On-Laor Homsetthi from the Monfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design presented art, cultural, and public engagement projects produced by MAAD Chinese-track students, highlighting the essential role of arts and culture in community development.
In a paired presentation, A. Chekchanok Bulakul and A. Tiffany Shelton from the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts shared teaching highlights from their aesthetic and design courses, reflecting the program’s interdisciplinary foundation. The MAAD faculty is primarily drawn from these two schools, ensuring strong academic depth and creative diversity.
Program Leadership That Inspires
At the heart of the MAAD program is Dr. Apichart Intravisit, Program Director, whose vision has shaped MAAD into a forward-looking platform where art, culture, and the creative economy intersect.
With a deep understanding of both artistic practice and contemporary professional realities, Dr. Apichart has positioned MAAD as an inclusive pathway for experienced creatives and newcomers alike, guiding students to expand their creative confidence while responding to the growing demand for cultural and creative industries.
The earliest student intake is anticipated for January 2026, with limited spaces available.
