The Theodore Maria School of Arts at Assumption University of Thailand (AU) hosted its annual Arts Faculty Meeting and Training 2024, bringing together faculty members and researchers to explore advancements in language education, artificial intelligence, and academic publishing. The event, held at Wiman Blangpli Room, CL Building, Suvarnabhumi Campus, provided faculty members with insights into AI-driven research, ESL teaching methodologies, and publishing strategies.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean of the Theodore Maria School of Arts, followed by a special presentation honoring retiring faculty members with certificates and gifts in recognition of their service to the University.



Research Training: AI and Digital Tools in ESL Research
A key highlight of the event was the Research Training session titled:
“Leveraging Technology in ESL Research and Practice: Exploring the Role of AI and Digital Tools,” led by Prof. Dr. Budsaba Kanoksilpatham from the Faculty of Management Science, Silpakorn University.
This session explored how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools are transforming English as a Second Language (ESL) research and teaching methodologies, providing faculty with new approaches to integrating technology into their work.


Research Sharing: Publishing Insights and Conference Presentations
The afternoon featured two Research Sharing sessions:
“The Editor’s Red Flag List: What Gets Your Paper Rejected Instantly”, by Dr. Rusma Kalra, providing faculty with a detailed look at common pitfalls that lead to academic paper rejections and offering strategies to improve manuscript acceptance rates.


“From Classroom to Conference: Practical Insights on Researching and Presenting in Language Teaching”, by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureepong Phothongsunan, offering faculty practical advice on conducting research, preparing academic papers, and effectively presenting at international conferences.


The event reinforced AU’s commitment to research excellence and innovation in ESL education. Faculty members left with a deeper understanding of AI applications in language teaching, best practices for academic publishing, and strategies for effective research presentations.
